2022 Holiday Guide

It’s the perfect time to carry on traditions or start new ones and there’s no better place to get in the holiday spirit than the Western White Mountains. You’ll find snow covered mountains and slopes for skiing, ice skating rinks and horse drawn carriages for traditional winter experiences, a good old fashioned general store and unique stores and boutiques filled with gifts, and a variety of restaurants to suit any palate. Come spread the season’s cheer with us!

Lincoln-Woodstock Holiday Light Contest– Linwood Friends of Recreation
Friday, December 9th through Saturday, December 17th. Winners announced Monday, December 19th!
The Lincoln-Woodstock Friends of Recreation presents the Lincoln-Woodstock Holiday Light Contest. They encourage residents and businesses to get in the spirit and decorate their yard, house, or business for the Holidays. The Holiday Light Contest will run Friday, December 9th through Saturday, December 17th. To Vote, go to CLICK HERE or scan the QR code in the flyer. First, second and third place winners for residents and businesses will be announced by December 19th. This is a free event for all!

Just for Kids Shopping Event- Linwood Friends of Recreation
Friday, December 9th from 8am-2pm
Send your child to school with their shopping list & money! Throughout the school day they will be brought to the “shopping area” where volunteers will help them shop, wrap and tag their gifts! Locals’ Night- The Christmas Loft

Celebration of Lights– The Village Shops
Saturday, December 10th from 4pm-6pm
Join us for a fun evening presented by The Lincoln Woodstock Interact Club! Enjoy numerous lit up trees decorated by local businesses and vote for your favorite! There will be kids crafts and treats, photo ops, and a basket raffle! Don’t forget to bring your letters for Santa to put in his special mailbox! More information

Take a Photo with Santa- Mt. Washington Cog Railway
Visit the Mt. Washington Cog Railway every weekend through Christmas Eve day to meet and take photos with Santa at the Base Station! More information

Join the Western White Mountains Chamber of Commerce, Linwood Friends of Recreation, and White Mountain Santa for the evening and enjoy free candy cane, while supplies last!

Share your wishes and enjoy an evening with Santa Claus. He wants to hear all of the good things you’ve been doing this year. Enjoy the fun, hot chocolate, games and treats and don’t forget to bring your letter to place in the North Pole Letter Box. Located in the Owners Club. Open to the public. More information

Christmas Eve Tree Lighting Service– Loon Mountain Ministry
Saturday, December 24th from 5:45pm-6:45pm
This service will be held inside the new Loon Mountain Kanc8 building! We will be under cover from the wind, but it will be cold, so dress accordingly. Inside the building we will have approximately 50 seats up front on the pavement for elderly/those unable to stand for longer periods. Everyone else will be standing on the snow behind them, so bring some good winter boots! We will kick off the night with the tree lighting and Christmas carol at 5:45pm. This will be followed up by our service starting at 6pm and finishing up no later than 6:45. Cookies and hot cocoa provided! More information

Christmas Day Service– Loon Mountain Ministry
Sunday, December 25th from 10:30am-11am
This service will be a small and intimate service at Encore Thrift and Coffee on Christmas morning from 10:30-11:00. More information

Christmas Day– Loon Mountain Resort
Saturday, December 24th
Loon Mountain Resort will be open for skiing and riding on Christmas Day. More information

Santa’s Steam Train Express– Loon Mountain Resort
Monday, December 26th & Tuesday, December 27th
Climb on the J.E. Henry Railroad for an evening family event. Load Loon’s authentic steam-powered locomotive for a ride to the new Kancamagus 8 parking structure for a nighttime story told by a special guest. Of course, hot chocolate will be served. All proceeds benefit the Loon Mountain Area Community Fund. More information

Holiday Events & Dining

The December holiday break is a great time to visit with family and friends and create some holiday memories together.

Loon Mountain Resort and Cannon Mountain are open with lots of trails for you to explore on your new skis or board. There’s also cross country trails open at Ski Heart Farm and Franconia Village XC.  Winter hiking and snowshoeing in the White Mountain National Forest is another way to explore the beauty of our area.

There’s also many events happening in the area: from ice skating to sleigh rides, painting classes and ski races to a variety of New Year’s Eve Celebrations. For a full list of events visit our Events Calendar.

Let someone else do the cooking this holiday! Below you’ll find a list of holiday hours for some of our local restaurants in the area. If you didn’t want a full meal out, you can pre-order appetizers, breads, cakes and even entrees from the Purple Tomato in Lincoln, NH. Friday, December 21st is the last day to get in your orders.
