Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are an increasingly important part of meeting housing needs across New Hampshire, including in the North Country. These small, independent residential units—such as basement apartments, backyard cottages, or garage conversions—can help homeowners create flexible living space for family members, supplement household income through rental opportunities, and contribute to the region’s overall housing availability.

The next part of our ADU educational campaign is a virtual workshop series in February and March 2026. The series will include 3 evening sessions (which will be recorded) featuring experts from around the state and New England who specialize in planning, permitting, financing, and constructing ADUs.
