Looking for some established rides and trails to enjoy during White Mountain Bicycle Week? Look no further! We want you to maximize your time on two wheels while you’re here so we’ve compiled a list of our favorite and most scenic rides in the area. Happy trails!
East Ridge Trail Network
Escape the hot sun and explore the tree covered local cross-country East Ridge Trail Network on the edge of the National Forest. This intermediary trail system is great for ride with friends and family. Trail maps are available at Loon Mountain Resort’s Bike center.
Ride Directions:
- Head on NH-112 east until you reach Loon Mountain Resort.
- Turn right onto Loon Mountain Resort, then take a left towards the Mountain Club.
- Continue past the Mountain Club on Black Mountain Road until it turns into Landing Road.
- Park at the trailhead on Wanigan Rd and start where you will begin your mountain bike ride.
Paved Bike Trail ~ 1.5 Miles
Take the kids out on a beginner ride on the paved bike path just past the bustle of Main Street Lincoln. You’ll find a shaded path that brings you along the river and up to Loon Mountain Resort.
Ride Directions:
- Enter the bike path to the left off of Route 112 just past the Common Man.
- Continue through the woods and cross Route 112 where there is a break at the road.
- Continue straight until you’ve reached Loon Mountain Resort.
Kancamagus Hill Climb ~ 10 Miles
Up for a challenge? Climb your way up an average 9% grade on the famous Kancamagus Highway for an iconic view of the White Mountain National Forest. Always take a photo at the top to show your friends later.
Ride Directions:
- Head east on NH-112 (Kancamagus Highway) towards Loon Mountain Resort.
- Continue up NH-112 until you reach the summit of the Kancamagus Highway.
Franconia Notch Bike Path ~ 8 Miles One Way
Enjoy an intermediate ride through Franconia Notch State Park to the Echo Lake, where riders can take a quick drip before heading back into town for lunch.
Ride Directions:
- Park your vehicle at one of the State Park’s many lots along Route 3 and NH-Interstate 93. Where you park will depend on how long you want to ride. There you will find entrances to the park’s bike path that will lead you past the Old Man on the Mountain, Cannon Mountain, and Echo Lake. Multiple trails maps are posted next to the parking lots as well as paper copies at Lafayette Place Campground.
Rt.175 Road Ride ~ 10 Miles
Enjoy an easy-going scenic road ride along the Pemigewasset River with your friends and family.
Ride Directions:
- Head south on route 3
- Turn left onto Eastside Road – Route 175.
- Continue on Route 175 until you meet South Station Road.
- Turn right onto South Station Road. Keep left at the fork.
- At the end of the road turn right onto Route 3.
- Continue on Route 3 until it takes you back to the town of North Woodstock.
