The Western White Mountains are an amazing vacation destination for the outdoorsy adventures and family fun attractions, but that’s not all our area has to offer!
When you plan a trip to the area come visit our theaters and museums. Listen to live music and dance the night away. Arts and culture in the White Mountains is not something to be missed.
Theater
Theater is a big part of white mountains arts and culture. North Country Center for the Arts at Jean’s Playhouse in Lincoln, NH, is a theater that performs regular shows in the area. They also host well-known comedians and live music throughout the year. Bringing the children along, IMPACT Children’s Theater performs a different fairytale every week for six weeks over the summer. Come see a show and enjoy dinner at several locations throughout the area.
Music
Live music is a huge part of the Western White Mountains. No matter your music preference, you are likely to find a show for you. Weekly live music can be found at Woodstock Inn Brewery, One Love Brewery, Twin Barns Brewing Co. North Taproom, and Owl’s Nest Resort. If you’re interested in open mics, Woodstock Inn has one every week! Looking for trivia or karaoke? We’ve got you covered! Check the events calendar to learn more on current events.
NHSCOT brings The New Hampshire Highland Games to beautiful Loon Mountain Resort each September. The NH Highland Games & Festival (NHHG&F) is one of the largest and most diverse Highland Games held in North America. This celebration of Scottish heritage is held the third Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of September each year at Loon Mountain Resort in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Highland Games are as symbolically Scottish as bagpipes, kilts and whisky.
Art
For hundreds of years, artists everywhere have used the Western White Mountains as inspirations for their art. Oils, acrylics, charcoal, pencil, clay, and more have carved out this view. Harman’s Cheese & Country Store hosts Artisans on the Lawns during summer weekends and have artists on site ranging from basket-weaving, to pen-making, to American historical folk art, handspun yarns, knitting, quilt-making, NH themed children’s books, wood-turning, wood carving, maple syrup, stained glass and more! Be sure to stop by Fournier Fine Art Gallery to have the opportunity to purchase work by exceptional local artists.
History
The history of NH is worth learning about, and we hope you’ll take the time during your stay! In the Western White Mountains, there is a museum for everyone. The New England Ski Museum is one of the best in the area to learn more about the history of skiing in NH. New England Ski Museum is a member supported non-profit organization dedicated to the history of skiing. They offer permanent and annually-changing exhibits, and invite you to visit their museum in beautiful Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire. Admission to the museum is always free.
In addition, the Western White Mountains also offer:
